Wednesday, October 29, 2008

Day Seven

Genesis 16:1-18:15, Matthew 6:1-24, Psalm 7:1-17, Proverbs 2:1-5

Maggie:
Matthew - "Your Father knows what you need before you ask him" This line has guided me through many prayers. I love these chapters of the Gospel. It is stating in black and white how we should live our lives.

Tuesday, October 28, 2008

Day Six

Genesis 13:5-15:21, Matthew 5:27-48, Psalm 6:1-10, Proverbs 1:29-33

Monday, October 27, 2008

Day Five

Genesis 11:1-13:4, Matthew 5:1-26, Psalm 5:1-12, Proverbs 1:24-28

Maggie:
Matthew: I get chills everytime I read or hear the Beatitudes. They always make me think about myself and if I'm living up to these standards.

Sunday, October 26, 2008

Day Four

Genesis 8:1-10:32, Matthew 4:12-25, Psalm 4:1-8, Proverbs 1:20-23

Maggie:
Genesis: Have you ever read or watched the documentary by Bruce Feiler called "Walking the Bible"? He actually goes to Ararat (8:4) and meets the people who live there. It is very interesting. I think I will always see rainbows differently after reading about God's Covenant with Noah.

Saturday, October 25, 2008

Day three

Genesis 5:1-7:24, Matthew 3:7-4:11, Psalm 3:1-8, Proverbs 1:10-19

Maggie:
Matthew: I love the analogies that John the Baptist uses in vs.10 and 12. When I read about the temptation of Jesus, I think of how clever Satan was/is. He used every angle to tempt Jesus. And even though Jesus was suffering, he did not give a second thought at doing what Satan was asking. Wow! What an example to live by.

Psalm: "But you, Lord, are a shield around be; my glory, you keep my head high." (vs. 4) This one's going on the fridge.

Friday, October 24, 2008

Day two

Genesis 3:1-4:26, Matthew 2:13-3:6, Psalm 2:1-12, Proverbs 1:7-9

Maggie:
Genesis: Everytime I read about the serpent tempting Eve and tricking her into eating the forbidden fruit I think about how many times the "serpent" tempts me and how many times I give in to those temptations.

Psalm: "Happy are all who take refuge in God!" That line in vs. 11 is going on my fridge.

Thursday, October 23, 2008

Day one

Genesis 1:1-2:25, Matthew 1:1-2:12, Psalm 1:1-6, Proverbs 1:1-6

Laura:
Matthew: I think it is cool that they have the Genealogy of Jesus here. I love that we can look in the Old Testament and read about all these different people.
Did you know that the three wise men did not come to Jesus at the time of His birth? But it was maybe it might have been when Jesus was two years old. And really we don't know the number of men that made up the Magi.

Psalm: I love vs 2. But his delight is in the law of the Lord and on His law he mediates day and night. We need to be like this. We need to delight in reading and understanding God's Words. I have found at times when I'm constantly is His Word I have grown into a more deeper understand who God really is. I pray for us as we are reading His Word that we would grow closer to Him.

Maggie:
Genesis: Whenever I read the first story of creation, I always like to try visualizing it in detail. What did the earth look like when it was a formless wasteland, how did the first creatures act, etc.

Matthhew: I agree with you, Laura, that I really like seeing the Genealogy of Jesus. Especially now because of a book I'm reading. I am currently at the part in the book where it talks about the lives of the people of the old testiment, and how one generation shaped the next.

Maggie and I have decided to commit to reading the Bible in a year.

The Monster at the End of this Book

I don't know if you enjoy this book nearly as much as everyone else enjoys listening to you read it out loud :)

Numb3rs

NUMB3RS is a drama about an FBI agent who recruits his mathematical-genius brother to help the Bureau solve a wide range of challenging crimes in Los Angeles. The two brothers take on the most confounding criminal cases from a very distinctive perspective.

Obviously I didn't write this. This is the description given on CBS.com. You should check out a few episodes on line.

Numb3rs

What is the tv show Numb3rs about?

Clarification

The top five tv shows that I have listed are my top five that are on now. If you want my all time top five, I have a different list (which would be hard to narrow down to five).

Favorites

Here are my favorites in the categories of Books, TV Shows, Movies, and Songs. Okay, I admit, I'm cheating. I have tried, but there is absolutely no way that I can narrow my movies and songs to five. You're lucky I kept the list under twenty.

4. Walking the Bible - Bruce Feiler
3. Love Comes Softly/A Prairie Legacy Series - Janette Oke
2. Any Jane Austen Novel - especially Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility and Emma
1. Bible
(okay, so technically that is more than five books)

TV Shows...
H.M. Army Wives would have been in the top five, but because I don't have cable it is just too hard to keep up with the storyline.
5. Criminal Minds
4. NCIS
3. CSI: New York
2. Numb3rs
1. One Tree Hill

Movies...(listed in no particular order)
Wizard of Oz
Love Comes Softly Series (not as good as the books, but still good)

Gone With the Wind
It's a Wonderful Life
Christmas Story
The Ten Commandments
The Passion of the Christ
Becoming Jane

(The list is much longer, but here's a good start)

Birthday Songs

The following songs were number one hits on the day we were born.

Laura - "My Sharona" by The Knack
Maggie - "I Love a Rainy Night" by Eddie Rabbitt

$$$

I'm expecting 20 Dollars not 20 Zloty. :)

$20

I guess I owe you $20.

Stand by Me was another one of my guesses.

Expanded Answer and Third Soundtrack

I am going to guess that we did not only dance to that song, but we also danced wearing roller skates.

The third soundtrack was......

Soundtracks

Your answer is very close but not exactly what I was looking for. Expand it a little.

Soundtrack:
1. Dirty Dancing
2. Cocktail

3. I'm not a 100% sure but I would have to say: Footloose

Possible Answer to Song

I don't know exactly what you are looking for, but I remember making up dances together using soundtracks that we had. This song was on one of the soundtracks. Did we do a dance to it?

Now it's your turn. What were the three soundtracks (on cassettes, obviously) that we used to listen to and make up dances to?
